My Drama Final

So, our final for drama was to find an emotion we don't portray well, I chose bitter (If you know me, I'm never bitter AT ALL), and what we had to do was explore different levels of the emotion and write a monologue. Well not being a very bitter person, I could not think of a way to act bitter. Well, just recently I was cast as Titus Savage in "The Curious Savage" who just so happens to be quite a bitter character. Well, I took the opportunity to take this monlogue writing project as a character development as well and wrote this monlogue that could also be taken as a porlogue to the play. It is Titus talking to himself about what to do with his stepmother, who is the play's protagonist.

Titus: How could she?! She's sold over all those Savage Industries and used the money to set up a memorial fund? Where did she get the nerver? She's not even a Savage by blood. For god's sake, she wasn't even Father's first wife! Yet she thinks she has control over the whole Savage estate just because Father died! I'm his firstborn! I was around even before she took the Savage name! I should decide how the money is used! I suppose she thinks she was Father's favorite... That's it, Father loved her best! >Hmph< The way I see it she was Father's SECOND wife, therefore she's only second best! You hear that Ethel Savage? You're only second best! She'll regret this. No, no, she'll pay for this! (Groans) Some people would consider her insane for acting like this! Setting up a memorial fund for some of the stupidest reasons, and taking up acting-at her age! If I hadn't grown up with the woman, I'd think she was certifiably insane... That's it! (Picks up phone book and thumbs through) I'll have mother committed to an institution until she stops this foolishness! (Taps page in phone book) Hmmm... (Picks up phone and dials 0) Hello, operator?... Connect me with the Hotel Meurice in Paris, room 195... No I don't know the number... Yes, I'll wait... (Lowers phone) Mother locked up... This is perfect. (Raises phone back to ear) Hello, Lily Belle?... Have you ever heard of "The Cloisters"? (Stage goes black)

Quirks

So, my mama recently did a blog on her top 5 quirks about her and I figured, "Hey, I'll do one on my top 5 too!" So here they are!

1: Dirty Fingernails
I can't stand 'em. It's gross but if I see dirty fingernails I want nothing more than to have them clean. Heaven help my kids one day when I have to carry tweezers (spell check?) around so that I can clean them whenever they get dirty.

2: Long Pants
I am beyond uncomfortable in long pants. Unless it's raining, you probably won't see me in them... Which is kinda funny because right now it's super sunny outside and I've got jeans on, but I'm also uncomfortable! So there!

3: Muffins
This one is one is the exact opposite of my mom's. She has to eat the bottom of a cupcake first and then the top. But she'll bite right into a muffin. I'll bite right into a cupcake but I eat muffins the way she eats cupcakes.

4: Text Smilies
The typical text smily is :) right? Well I make mine =^) I dunno why, I just like that way more. I get crap from my friend Caitlyn about this. She thinks the normal way is easier, and it is! But I can't bring myself to it. I like my way more!

5: HolographickyCups

I'm outting myself on this but I can't stand when people scratch those holographic cups where the picture changes when the angle changes. They make this high pitch screechy sound that sends chills down my spine! Like I said I'm outting myself. I've been able to act like it doesn't bother me lately, but I still can't stand it!!!

Hate Crimes

This past weekend my school did four performances of Moises Kaufman's "The Laramie Project". For those of you who don't know, "The Laramie Project" is about the aftermath of the murder of openly gay University of Wyoming Student, Matthew Shepard. He was beaten and pistol whipped by Aaron Mckinney and Russell Henderson. The murder was classified under the terms "gay panic", "gay bashing", and "hate crime". Now, while the performers did a wonderful job and the director Mrs. Grace Stanton did a wonderful job directing it, it got me thinking... Why is that classified as a hate crime? Why are hate crimes based only around sexual orientation, race, and religion? I don't find that very fair... One character in the play makes a reference to a highway patrolman that was killed right around the same time as Matthew... At the time Matthew got world-wide attention and multiple memorial services. What did that highway patrolman get? Maybe a small funeral with his close friends and family? Now don't get me wrong, what happened to Matthew was horrible, but when it comes to it, so was what happened to that highway patrolman... Matthew got world-wide attention because he was gay, which ultimately is a sin... Homosexuality is wrong. Westboro Baptist Church's Pastor Fred Phelps is an extremist who claims "God hates f**s". I wouldn't go as far as to say that, God doesn't hate anyone. God loves everyone with all his heart regardless of their sins, but God does indeed hate sin, and homosexuality is a sin... (For anyone reading this right now who isn't a believer and thinking "Well, if God doesn't hate anyone, why does He send them to hell?" I want you to know that God hasn't sent a single person to hell. They go their by their own choice. God offers the free gift of salvation through His son's blood. And he isn't going to force that gift on anyone. If you don't choose to accept that gift, that isn't His fault)Now that that tangent is over, why is it that people are murdered every day, but one gay man is murdered and he receives acclaim and is regarded as a hero world-wide because of a sinful choice he has made? And its under the term HATE crime. When you think about it, aren't basically all crimes committed based off of hate? You kill someone, no, ANYONE you're basically saying you hate the fact they're alive. You steal something, you're saying you hate the fact that you don't have that thing. The list goes on. But in the end, Aaron McKinney and Russell Henderson deserve the same punishment as any other murderer, nothing more simply because the victim was gay... Matthew Shepard got world-wide acclaim, a play, a film, a sequel to the play... What did the highway patrolman get? A section of the local Laramie newspaper, a small funeral, and a mention in the play about Shepard (By someone who could quite possibly be portrayed as an antagonist mind you). I don't find that fair... Take away from this blog whatever you want, but that's how I feel...

My Point Of View On a Rising Controversy

Marijuana, as you may know is going to possibly be legalized... I am going to now give you my thoughts...
Marijuana is a drug, more appropriately a NARCOTIC!!!! Should we legalize Meth, Acid, Heroin, and Crack while we're at it? Or maybe we should start picking and chewing mushrooms legally!!! Doesn't that sound like fun?!?!?!?!?! Uhhh, NO!!!!!! Here's a little fun fact for you: If weed is legalized, more people will use it, then there will be more DUI incidents... Legalizing it will not lower the capacity of our prisons... Those pot heads will just be in prison for a different reason! (Oh, and for you people who think DUI is just associated with alcohol, IT'S NOT! DUI stands for Driving Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance, if you think otherwise, you should have payed attention in your health class). Also, while we may save money in legalizing pot, we will still lose because of those going into prison! Hello!?!? More fun facts: Smoking a joint is worse than smoking a pack a cigarettes. 1 joint can put more tar in your lungs than a whole pack of cigarettes! But that's just my thoughts... You wanna be a dummy and legalize the POISON go for it! Some one said its better to help them put down the joint than smack it out of their hand, you be kind and help them, they'll just pick up another. Its better to smack it as far away as possible!

Usually please and thank you, but let's switch it up, huh?

I would like to thank all the people out there reading my blog. I see now that I need to come up with more material and add to it a little more often. Maybe not Blogaholically MOM ... but more often definitely. I have people as far as New Zealand reading it. And I ask: Please, any of you who read my blog's more creative side, (not the cast lists, those are for my friends who are in my play. I will have to get another website for that and all my actors, P.A.'s and all the people involved in my plays to look at schedules and such there) comment if like like posts such as "Time" or any of that. I LOVE feedback. And if I request ideas, GIVE ME IDEAS!!! I absolutely love the fact my blog is recognized not just nationally, but INTERNATIONALLY! I need ideas!

Okay, I just all of a sudden got a hankering to write a story. I don't know whether it'll be a book or just a short story but I wanna write something. Problem is, I DON'T KNOW WHAT ABOUT!!!! I need idears! Email me some form of genre at IndyJake210@aol.com and your name if I don't know you personally and I will write some form of composition, short story or book and the book will be FOR YOU!! I mean it will be for everyone to read, but in the front of the book it will say: "This book is for..." So, EMAIL ME IDEAS!!!!! Don't let my sudden whim dwindle. The sooner I get ideas the more likely they will be put in print. And don't worry about searching Barne's and Noble for a book by Jacob DePriest I will let you know and I will put the winner on the blog.
